How Writing Can Save Lives – The Thuy Yau Experience A Stay at Home Mum
Hi, thanks for dropping by. I really appreciate your company here. Just had an awesome week networking with so many inspirational people. Just got in touch with such an inspirational blogger/author/stay at home mum Thuy Yau.
Thuy Yau
Thuy is a blogger/author for Inside a Mother’s Mind . She is a mother of 3. She was studying Psychology when she met her husband. She is also a stay at home mum. Like all stay at home mums, she wanted to put her children first, they were and will always be her first priority.
How she was before
7 years ago, she was at the lowest point in her life but got through it by realising her passion – helping others. She started a degree in Psychology, met her husband and later saved her friend from ending his life. But for the next 5 years, she put her career on hold to start a family.
But 18 months ago, Thuy decided to start a blog to help other parents. But she wanted something more from it. So she entered the Sydney Writers’ Centre Blogs Competition 2012 and entered under the ‘parenting’ category but something didn’t feel right. Thuy realized that she wasn’t meant to be there. When Thuy didn’t become a finalist, she was really disappointed because of the time and energy invested in her blogging.
The Epiphany
Ironically enough that disappointment turned into inspiration. That’s when Thuy knew she wanted to be a writer and chose to focus on personal development instead.
Thuy started networking with top freelance writers all over the world, tweeting them, emailing them, facebooking. The writers responded and enjoyed her blog posts. That led to guest posts on top blogs, a post on a parenting website and in their newsletter, and her post about the non-fiction novel, Broken Lives, was commented on by the author and the wrongly-convicted man, Mr. Button, himself.

Thuy was one of the R U OK? DAY Blogger Stories of Inspiration. She blogged about the lowest point in her life and how she got through it. She wrote it to help prevent suicide and encourage others to be there for their loved ones. Her post has received a lot of positive feedback.
Where is Thuy now
Thuy has had an offer for advertising space, a lot of PR companies have worked with her. She’s also been interviewed by a German journalist for her book, and is now a regular contributor to an Aussie mums website. Thuy is also writing her first ebook and first novel, and has just started her own freelance writing business.
Best part about all this is that she manages it with 3 young children, especially two who are special needs. Thuy rushes from school, takes them to appointments, does housework, cooks, feeds them, writes and even manages to spend time with her husband!
This is her philosophy on life: “Never doubt your own capability to do extraordinary things. Anyone can make a difference.”
Thuy, you are such an inspiration to others. I may not be a stay at home mum but you definitely motivated me to be a stay at home dad helping others!
Thanks again for dropping by the blog. Please give Thuy your support by following her on Facebook and Twitter.
